Lady A has launched a lawsuit against Anita White, a blues singer who goes by the name Lady A. The suit claims that she "is attempting to enforce purported trademarks rights in a mark that Plantiffs have held for more than a decade." The former Lady Antebellum applied to register the nickname Lady A with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in May of 2010 and it was officially registered for entertainment purposes on July 26, 2011 after no oppositions were filed. The trio and Anita White had been talking about possibly writing and recording a song together, and planning for the group to help promote her career. Those plans fell apart when she objected to a draft agreement that the band's lawyers prepared, saying that they were "trying to erase me," and that she "no longer trusted them."
