Luke Combs is just two weeks away from tying Shania Twain's Billboard Top Country Albums chart record. Shania's album, Come On Over, spent 50 weeks at number one and holds the record for the most weeks in that spot. Luke's album, This One's For You has been in the number one spot for 48 weeks now. Kenny Chesney has revealed his tour plans for 2020. His Chillaxification Tour will kick off April 18th at Arlington, Texas' AT&T Stadium and will continue until August 28. So far, 20 shows have been announced, but the press release indicates that more will be added. Joining Kenny on the tour will be Florida Georgia Line, Old Dominion and Michael Franti & Spearhead.
Justin Moore and Tracy Lawrence will be teaming up for the Late Night and Longnecks Tour starting in 2020. The tour, which gets its name from Justin's album, willl start January 16th in Dodge City, Kansas and will continue for 19 dates. Tracy recently released his new album, Made in America.
The Academy of Country Music has named Chris Stapleton the ACM Artist-Songwriter of the Decade. It recognizes an artist who has commercially released material,written in whole or in part by the artist. This award recognizes a songwriter whose creative works and performance have impacted country music over the decade. There are still more inaugural Decade Awards to be announced in the coming weeks.
Dierks Bentley has just earned the 19th number one single of his career as "Living" goes to the top of the Mediabase and Billboard Country Airplay chart this week. "Living" is the follow up to two previous number one singles off The Mountain, "Burning Man" and "Woman, Amen".
Natalie Maines is telling Dixie Chicks fans that the wait is almost over. She confirmed that a new record from the trio will be out in 2020 and it will be accompanied by an arena tour. According to Natalie, the album is called Gaslighter, and they had planned on it being all covers to fulfill their requirement of a seventh album to Sony. It is now going to be all original material and Natalie thinks it's their best work to date. This album will be their final one with Sony and then they will be free to sign a new record deal or become an independent act.
Jimmie Allen shared on social media Friday (Sept. 20) that his dad had recently passed away. He learned that his father had died while he was out fishing at one of their favourite spots. "I decided to do something we both enjoyed doing rather than go to the hospital and see him laying there lifeless," Jimmie explained. He is the fourth of seven children and describes his dad as "the redneck of the family."
George Strait is working with Discovery Land Company Foundation to create a themed t-shirt to support Hurricane Dorian relief efforts in the Bahamas. All proceeds from each $20 shirt will benefit the Abaco Relief Fund, which "assists with the immediate disaster relief needs of Bahamian citizens, including water, shelter, medical needs and the recovery of the community." Shirts are available for order until October 19.
