Guests included Jason and Brittany Aldean, Dee Jay Silver and his wife Jenna, Kane and Katelyn Brown, Thomas Rhett and Lauren Akins, Luke Combs and his fiancee Nicole Hocking and more. They all got to enjoy skeet-shooting, axe throwing, darts, horseshoes, cigars and whiskey tasting. Plus they got a look at some of the items from Brian and Brittney's boutique.
Jon Pardi is getting married. He proposed to his girlfriend of two years, Summer Duncan, on stage at the Ryman Auditorium on Wednesday night. Before he got down on one knee, Jon explained to the crowd that the Ryman Auditorium was one of their very first date spots. After he proposed, Summer said "yes" and they shared a hug and kiss, much to the delight of the cheering audience.
Dan + Shay are releasing a new single tomorrow (Oct. 4) and it features Justin Bieber. Dan Smyers, Shay Mooney and Justin Bieber co-wrote the song, "10,000 Hours", with Jordan Reynolds, Jessie Jo Dillon and Jason "Poo Bear" Boyd. It's the first release from Dan + Shay's next album. The duo have been friends with Justin for years. Scooter Braun is Justin's manager and Dan + Shay's co-manager along with Jason Owen.
Blake Shelton revealed that he is producing a new Hallmark holiday movie called "Time for You to Come Home for Christmas". This movie is the sequel to 2018's "Time for Me to Come Home for Christmas", which was based on a song that Blake released in 2012 on his holiday album, Cheers, it's Christmas. Production for the new movie, which stars Alison Sweeney and Lucas Bryant, is underway in Vancouver.
Chris Stapleton will headline a benefit concert, A Concert for Kentucky, on April 25. All proceeds from the concert will benefit the Outlaw State of Kind Hometown Fund, which Chris and his wife Morgane founded in 2016 to support a variety of causes in Kentucky. Willie Nelson & Family, Sheryl Crow and Yola are also scheduled to perform at the concert.
In March of 2020, Garth Brooks will become the second country singer to receive the Gershwin Prize for Popular Song from the Library of Congress. This honour is named after the legendary songwriting team of George and Ira Gershwin. The Gershwin Prize recognizes a living musical artist's lifetime achievement in promoting the genre of song as a vehicle of entertainment, inspiration and cultural understanding. At the age of 57, Garth will also be the youngest recipient of the award. In 2015, Willie Nelson became the first country artist to recieve this award.
It would appear that Ken Burns' country music documentary that aired on PBS has lead to increased sales for artists who were featured in the series. The day after the finale aired, 14 out of the 20 top-selling country albums on iTunes were artists who had been mentioned in the documentary. Waylon Jennings, Patsy Cline, Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris, Jimmie Rodgers, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Kris Kristofferson all saw a big jump in sales, usually the day after their episode aired.
A new Kacey Musgraves song called "All Is Found" will play during the closing credits of Frozen 2, when it's in theatres on November 22. That song is one of seven new songs written by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. The songs are set to "reflect the growth of the characters and the deepening of their story," according to co-director Jennifer Lee. "I'm thrilled to be featured on the soundtrack for Frozen 2 with my version of one of the beautiful and haunting new songs," Kacey wrote on her Instagram Stories.
